Heidi Clinnick
Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

about Heidi

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.  I have completed a Masters in CBT and have a BSc (Hons), RMN, PG Dip and Masters Practitioner Skills in Eating Disorders. I believe in guiding people towards better mental health.

I am a BABCP accredited therapist which means I have undergone extensive training and have substantial experience in cognitive behavioural therapy for depression and  a number of anxiety disorders including PTSD, OCD, GAD, social anxiety, specific phobias.

I specialise in treating eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, using both a counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy approach.  I have been working with eating disorders for a number of years since completing my Masters Practitioner Skills in Eating Disorders at the National Centre for Eating Disorders in London.  This was following completion of my psychology degree. This included advanced training in eating disorders and obesity management, thus helping clients to transform their relationship with food and enhancing willpower by treating the problem holistically.

I completed a postgraduate diploma in mental health nursing in 2006, consequently I am also a registered mental health nurse but not currently practicing.

I have also completed research within the NHS as part of my Masters degree in cognitive behavioural therapy three years ago.

Experience and Skills

I currently work as a therapist privately with adults and teenagers and have been doing so for seven years. I carry out one-to-one therapy and I also offer cognitive behavioural therapy via the telephone.

I am very passionate and enthusiastic about my field of work and continually update my knowledge and skills by attending a number of workshops throughout the year. I have worked within mental health for a number of years, thus I believe I have a sound understanding of various mental health problems.  I hold a strong belief in the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy, having seen a number of clients recover from a range of problems and continue to enjoy guiding people to better mental health.
